Who is Occiput Augmentation suitable for?

• People with Flat Head Syndrome that have been present since childhood or caused by accidents
• Brachycephaly: The skull at the back of the head is flat, making the Plagiocephaly: For example, the back of the skull is not smooth, bulging out abnormally, or tilted to one side, not symmetrical
• Coronal Skull Depression: People with problems with the top of the skull can be augmented with silicone sheets, which will make the head higher and look balanced from all angles

1 Occiput Augmentation

Customized Silicone Augmentation Technique is a Korean technique that involves placing a special silicone sheet that is specifically designed for the individual at the back of the head or nape to adjust the head to look convex, making it look significantly better. Normally, women will be able to see a round head when their hair is tied up, while men will see a balanced, curved head shape in every dimension.

2 Sagittal Skull Augmentation

In cases where the upper part of the head is distorted or has an unbalanced shape with the face, it can be corrected by adding bone or artificial materials such as Polymethyl Methacrylate (PMMA) or silicone sheets.

3 Craniotomy or Skull Reduction

It is a technique used to correct people with abnormal protruding bones, which are often found as lumps or long lines at the back of the head. If the recipient already has a beautiful original head shape, the bone can be cut off from the skull without the need to add other materials.

How to prepare before surgery.

• Inform your doctor about your medical history, medications
• Stop taking aspirin, vitamins, and supplements at least 2 weeks before surgery
• Wash your hair thoroughly before the surgery and do not wear makeup on the day of surgery
• Stop drinking alcohol and smoking at least 2 weeks before the surgery

Surgical procedure

• Anesthesiologist administers anesthesia
• The surgeon will make an incision.
• Next, the surgeon will either grind the bone or add special silicone to the head using Masterpiece Hospital’s unique technique.
• The wound will then be closed with a medical staple.
• The duration of the surgery depends on each case, but it typically takes between 1.5 to 3 hours.

Post-surgery care instructions

• Take medications and follow the doctor’s instructions.
• Avoid washing your hair for 6-10 days as per the doctor’s advice.
• Make sure to clean the wound every day and keep it dry, avoiding moisture or dampness.
• After the surgery, lie on your stomach for 7-14 days to help reduce swelling and promote healing.
• Use a headband as instructed by the doctor for 24 hours a day during the first 10 days. The headband should be loosened every 6 hours for 15-30 minutes. If the band feels too tight, inform the doctor or staff to adjust it.
• Avoid alcohol and smoking for at least 2 weeks after surgery.
• Avoid exercise for at least 1 month after surgery.
• Wash your hair gently with baby shampoo, avoid scratching your scalp, and blow-dry your hair after at least 7 days.
• You can return to work as usual 10 days after surgery.
• You may come in for the removal of the fixation material (Off-max) 10-14 days after surgery.
• Follow-up appointments with your doctor are required as scheduled.
