Forehead and Brow Bone Reduction, and lift the brow arch to transform a strong face into a softer, more harmonious look.
The ideal face is one with dimensional browbones that match the forehead, making the face look soft, youthful, and attractive. Currently, doctors can perform surgery to reduce high browbones and adjust uneven foreheads in many ways, such as endoscopic surgery or open surgery techniques.
Who is it suitable for Brow Bone Reduction?
- Individuals with a prominent and thick brow bone
- Those who want to soften their facial features
- Transgender women seeking a more feminine and delicate upper facial structure
Differences Between Male and Female Brow Bones
From the two images above, you can see that men typically have a more prominent brow bone that extends forward compared to women. This feature plays a crucial role for individuals looking to transform their facial appearance from masculine to feminine.
Brow Bone Reduction for Men
Many people mistakenly believe that shaving down the brow bone in men will make them look feminine, but that’s not true. Surgeons can customize the reduction level to maintain a masculine appearance while enhancing facial harmony. Once the brow bone is contoured, the face appears more attractive, softer, and naturally youthful.
Brow Bone Reduction for Women
Many women have naturally prominent brow bones and uneven forehead contours, making their facial features appear harsh, stern, or unapproachable. A surgeon can address these concerns by designing a result that best matches the patient’s desired look.
In some cases, endoscopic shaving can be used to reduce part of the brow bone. In contrast, in others, the open technique may be necessary to refine the brow bone and upper facial structure, creating a more harmonious and attractive appearance.
Brow Bone Reduction for Transgender Women
For transgender women seeking to feminize their forehead and achieve a softer, more feminine appearance, Forehead Feminization Surgery (FFS) offers two primary techniques:
- Mini Brow Bone Reduction – This method involves shaving the outer portion of the brow bone using an endoscopic technique, resulting in minimal scarring with incisions hidden along the hairline. It is often performed in combination with other procedures such as forehead augmentation, temple implants, brow lift, lateral canthoplasty (outer eye lift), or corrugator muscle removal, depending on the patient’s needs.
Full Brow Bone Reduction (Open Technique): This approach reshapes the entire brow bone and may be combined with additional procedures such as hairline advancement, forehead size reduction, forehead augmentation, temple implants, brow lift, lateral canthoplasty, or corrugator muscle removal. The surgeon evaluates the best method to achieve the most natural and harmonious facial result.
Correction of a High Brow Ridge with Brow Bone Reduction
For cases with a significantly prominent brow ridge, particularly in males or individuals of European and American descent, Brow Bone Reduction may be necessary to create a softer and more balanced forehead. This procedure typically involves both brow bone shaving and restructuring to refine the brow ridge and forehead contour.
Before surgery, patients undergo a 3D CT Scan, which allows the surgeon to precisely plan the reduction of the frontal sinus (Frontal Sinus Reduction) for a permanent and natural result.

Preparation before surgery
- Inform the doctor about any chronic illnesses, medications, surgical history, allergies to drugs, or food allergies (if you have medical records from a hospital, please bring them on the consultation day or inform them before scheduling the surgery).
- Patients who have a history of taking blood-thinning medications or medications affecting blood clotting, painkillers, or other chronic medications should consult with the doctor before surgery or notify before scheduling the surgery.
- Refrain from taking any vitamins or supplements, such as Vitamin E, fish oil, ginkgo biloba, grape seed extract, ginseng, etc., at least 1 month before surgery.
- Wash your hair thoroughly before the surgery day and avoid wearing makeup on the day of surgery. Do not wear contact lenses on the surgery day; if you have vision problems, please wear glasses instead.
- Avoid wearing any jewelry, such as earrings, necklaces, or rings on the day of surgery (if you are unable to remove them, please inform the staff).
- Refrain from smoking for at least 4 weeks before and after the surgery, as the substances in cigarettes reduce oxygen levels in the blood and damage cells that repair the wound. This can reduce blood flow to the surgical area, potentially causing the skin to lack oxygen, resulting in slower healing and an increased risk of infection.
- Avoid alcoholic beverages 1-2 days before the surgery and for at least 1 week after surgery.
- Before the surgery, patients should clean their fingernails and toenails and refrain from applying nail polish, as well as from using artificial nails.
- Prepare your mental state; try not to be overly anxious. It’s important to understand that after the surgery, there will be swelling and bruising around the wound, and changes to the face or body area being operated on. Healing time and getting used to your new appearance may take time.
